Aritza Monasterio is a certified guide by the UIAGM with extensive experience in the Cordillera Blanca.
     He has participate in many expeditions in the this mountain range where he has made a significant contribution to the openning of challenging routes. Examples of these routes are the Piramide de Garcilaso by the southwest face, Alpamayo at the left of Ferrari route, and the West face of Chacraraju (6112m) which involved a hard mixed climb among others. This last one is considered by many as one of the hardests routes in the Cordillera Blanca. Also a new route on the west face of the Siula in Huayhuash in the year 2 001.
      Other ascensions that he has performed are the Alpamayo by three different routes, Quitaraju by two routes, Artesonraju by two different routes, Mount Copa and Ranrapalca being the most significant ones. Also in the Andes, he climbed solo the Polish direct route in Aconcagua. He is highly respected profesionally among his fellow mountain guides in Huaraz.
